Urchins: Formed from the 10-in-3 variant of the Japanese chain maille weave using 78 rings. The urchins are based on the dodecahedron, or 12-sided sphere, but the 12th side is left off to form the opening of the urchin’s shell. Made of brass (plain or oxidized), some with sterling silver; ranging in size from 5/8th inch to 1 inch in diameter.
Hives: Shadowboxes painted white, housing amorphous shapes that are formed from many mobius knots connected with small rings. All the rings are anodized niobium. The shapes are pinned in the shadowboxes with insect specimen pins — the back of the box has a layer of natural beeswax. Evocative of insect collection, honeycomb, or pieces of a wasp nest; of whitewashed beehives out in the fields. 5 x 5 inches square, and about 2 inches deep.
Drawings: A new series of drawings was begun in August 2009 combining photographs by Crescent Maille, with ink work done by Cloudery directly on the print. The first in this series is entitled Filaments. Cloudery calls them Intersections.
